| This is not what we expected. I thought they could have at least printed actual photos of the insects not just hand drawn black and white pictures. I also was surprised that there were not many insects listed and that some very common ones, at least for New England, were not in there at all.
We waited a very long time for this book to arrive and were very disappointed when it did. |

| I bought this book after we checked out the Webster the Scaredy Spider from the library, and my son loved it. Much to my surprise and complete disappointment that this compilation included an abridged version that the publisher and/or amazon did not notify me by mentioning it in the description (I just double checked before submitting this review). Nice, but ARRRGGGG!!!! My son's wondering where Lizzie the Lizard went in the Webster book now! |

| I read this book with my 6 year old daughter and we loved it! It was fun and the concepts were easy enough for her to understand, as well as, she was able to enjoy the lessons put forth about true friendship. |

| I was helping my 11 year old son with his Boy Scout reading merit badge. He needed to read different types of books and was adamant about hating poetry. We went to the library and found this book. Twenty-one poems and paintings, each about a different, specific insect. All the way home he was "Mom, listen to this one. Mom, you've got to see this picture. | My sons like the DK Readers books. They already own books on snakes, bugs and bacteria...and they were excited to get a book on spiders.
However, this entry in the DK collection didn't meet their expectations. Young boys like jumping spiders and orb spiders that build intricate web designs. The headliner though is the tarantula -- the biggest spiders on the planet. And there just wasn't enough of them in this book to keep up my kids' interest.
