| I first read this book, and the "prequel", Freckles, when I was ten years old, both were my grandmothers, and I fell in love. I still have both books-one was published in 1907, the other in 1909,and I still re-read them. The ideals expressed are timeless! Would that we all could live up to Elnora's standards of behavior. This book is an absolute gem. |

| I love bugs and I thought this was a perfect and unique book to read to my daughter. She enjoyed it a lot. The book makes the clicking sound at the end and I like that the pages of the book are a lot thicker than normal books. I still prefer Eric Carle's other works. |

| Perfect bedtime read for my 6 and 3 year old boys. We consume huge stacks of library books each week, and I keep a list of our favorites. When considering gifts for their cousins (same aged boys) I scanned the list and this one stood out among all the other books we loved. Catchy fun ryhme, wonderfully expressive illustrations inviting kids to recognize emotion on the faces of others, creativity in the art and words to engage the mind, and a good message of caring, all wrapped up into just plain FUN.

| This book is beautiful and inventive as everyone says, but ours is missing the letter "g." How does that happen? The facing pages have earthworms entertaining fireflies as they fandango, then on to hummingbirds hiding inside irises. Where's the g? If we got a bad book, how does that work? All of the other letters are there. It seems like there'd be another missing letter to balance things out. Nope. Just "g." |
