| I got this book for my birthday from my parents and I love it. It has a cool sword that comes in and out, a pop-up visor, a castle drawbridge that goes up and down. Parts of it are funny and I learned a little more about what it took to become a knight. |

Kept me breathless till the last page! Awesome cover art and The Hardys had major action! As the book starts out, the Hardys are operating their ham radio when they hear aunt gertrude yell "There's an ape out there!" They find out it's just a stuffed replica. | As with other books in this series, the Depression-era originals had been rewritten in the 1960s to revive the acceptability of this venerable series.
The improvements are welcome, in some instances, but by and large they serve to undercut the artistic integrity of "F.W.Dixon's" work on the originals. In this book in particular, Dixon's carefully wrought phonetics of Mexican speech are completely lost. If at all possible get a copy of the original and compare them - you'll see what I mean. ... | I FIRST READ R-F-W IN 1992, I HAVE SINCE READ THE NOVEL 10 TIMES. AS A CIVIL WAR BUFF I REALLY ENJOYED THE WESTERN FRONTIER BATTLES. IN HISTORY CLASS ONE USUALLY NEVER GETS MUCH INSIGHT ON THOSE AREAS OF THE CIVIL WAR. I LOVE THE PASE OF THIS NOVEL, IT SEEMS AS IF IT NEVER SLOWS DOWN. I REMEMBER AS A KID FALLING IN LOVE WITH THE CHARECTERS AND WANTING TO BE THEM. WHEN I DEPLOYED TO IRAQ IN 03 THIS BOOK SERVED A LINK BACK TO MY HOME IN ALABAMA. I HAVE READ THIS BOOK TO MY SON AND HAVE GIVEN IT AWAY AS GIFT
