| Let me start out by saying that I love the Diamond Brothers series, and I love anything written by Anthony Horowitz. However, in "South by Southeast", the fourth Diamond brother's book, the usual humor and clever plotting techniques that make Horowitz such a good mystery writer are no where to be seen. I am without a clue as to why Horowitz didn't make this a short story as it would have worked much better than it did as a full length story (even though it's only a slim 148 pages). | I bought this for my 10 year old son but as a mother who had only sisters I read it, too. This book was very readable, good pictures with just the right amount of information for a pre-teen. My son read the whole book in one sitting. The timing was right for him. He then asked a few questions and it provoked some thoughtful discussion. I would highly recommend this book. |

This is a spectacular book about a ten year old kid that helps his Dad, a cop solves crimes and mystery's. He starts a mystery business and most of the crimes are done by Bugs Meany and his gang.This book has 7 mysteries in a book. | My husband will soon leave for Kuwait, leaving behind our 4 yo daughter and me. I've been researching various deployment books since we learned he was going.
Overall, this is one of the best books. It is service neutral (which is difficult to find). The story is about love and separation more than the actual reason they are gone. | After several of the previous books in this series were somewhat disappointing, this book was a welcome improvement. The author paced the action better and formulated the mystery better than in the books just prior to this book. While I rated this book at four stars, when I compare this book with other books in the series I think it is one of the better books in this series.

| This book was purchsed for our great-granddaughter who is interested in all things concerning knights, castles and living in those times. She did not have any eyewitness books and loves it. She is a good reader, but is not bogged down by reading long description, on lots of pages. This is perfect for a 8,9, or ten yr old and I love them too. Tons of information, and great pictures. It does cover slang words (but yes -- as embarrassing as that is just reading them aloud made us laugh & took the sting/scariness out of talking about such things). It is appropriate for a child entering puberty who needs to know that his/her parents are willing to have a frank discussion.
