| The story started off quite engagingly, though I thought I'd discovered the secret right away (chapter 4!). It turns out I'd only discovered a small secret and the big one was still to come! There's also an element of reality (yes, in a fantasy book!) that struck me. Not everyone is perfectly redeemed, people don't always do the smart thing (but they also aren't made extremely stupid just to advance the plot). | These are great CD's. My 4-year old daughter loves Frog and Toad. Someone gave her the book series for Christmas, which she now keeps in the car where we listen to Frog and Toad. The CD's don't have the beep to turn the pages (since they don't actually come with the books) but she's able to keep up. The voices are great. When I ordered this from Amazon it was missing 1 of the CD's but they were great with the exchange and replaced it immediatetly. |

| I knew relatively little going into this book...and what little I did know was from less than 100% accurate retellings such as in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or references from cheesy shows or horror flicks (I think perhaps there was a reference in Scooby Doo somewhere?). I had the basic gist...there's a guy, Dorian Gray, who has some magical painting that ages while he stays young and wonderful forever. Not much to go on, but I was still excited to read it. | I would give this book, Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, four stars. The author describes everything really realistic and fun, making you feel like you're watching TV. All the characters are realistic in their characteristics. Only the bad thing is the ending I think. I think the ending happened too suddenly. That's the only reason I took one star out. It's really a good book though.

| When I was a kid, I used to read lot of Jules Verne. In those days I couldn't read neither English, nor French so I was destined to use translations which were few and of varying quality. Nevertheless, I think I'll always remember captain Nemo and his mysterious ship, his exile on the island and his death. Stories of Jules Verne always stirred my fantasy, and I guess that he should be blamed, together with Poe and Tolkien, for me entering the world of SF&F and staying there for a long time.

| This was my very first Nancy Drew book. Yep, and I a little older than what would be considered young adult these days! Tee Hee! I am hooked. I will tell you I was a little afraid of starting with Book 7, but I didn't feel left out at all. The author made it possible for me to catch up with Nancy, her family and her friends. I even got to meet the new "guy". I love stories about diaries, add in a mystery, a fire, some great adventures and a romantic interest, and I was extremely happy. | A wonderful book that is special for children and their parents - the perfect combination of silly and sweet. Thurber tells us in his preface that he had a great time writing the book and you can feel it. Read this book aloud to your kidlets so you don't miss out on the fun of his word choices. |
