| I have always loved Roald Dahl's amazing stories, and this one was just as good as his others. I love the typical Dahlian nonsensical words that aren't fully nonsensical (my favorites being `babblement' and `catasterous disastrophe'). The book is written in a very child-friendly way, but can be enjoyed by all ages. | I recently re-read this book since my son has to read it for English class. Even though I knew the entire plot, I still couldn't put it down. It was just as fresh and exciting the second time around. The characters are so marvellous you can't help but want them to succeed. I remember that when I read it the first time, I told my mom that I would never be able to look at rabbits the same way again. She told me that the book was really about people. | The book with printed story and pictures is excellent, deserving a 5-star rating. The CD, however, seems totally inappropriate for an audience of 3- to 6-year-olds. The combination of English, French, and French accented English is more confusing than enlightening. The CD content goes far beyond the content of the printed pages, adding to the confusion potential. The print-audio combination might work for some older children, but the story is most likely to interest younger ages. |

| had no idea this book had been in print so long. After seeing the bronze statues in the park on a trip to Boston, I ordered the book as a gift for our seven year old granddaughter for Christmas. I was not happy at the appearance or the "musty" smell of this old book, but the seller will not take it back. I am trying to get the smell out of the book with baking soda, I will just give our granddaughter the book when it smells better, but not as a gift.

| This is the rare instance where I've read the book but haven't seen the movie. You know, some stories are better in book form and some are better in movie form. After reading James and the Giant Peach, I believe it works better as a movie. It has more action than it does ideas, and I enjoyed the illustrations much more than the actual text, unlike Alice In Wonderland or Winnie The Pooh.
Dahl's prose seems a bit clunky in my opinion, but at least it should be easy for kids to understand. It's ugly in form, but not in function. ... Read More: |

| Our class read this book together this year. We loved it!!! It is about a 4th grader named Peter and his annoying brother named Fudge. Peter wins a turtle named Dribble from his friend Jimmy Fargo's birthday party. Fudge is always getting into trouble. Fudge's birthday is a disaster! First, someone wets on the floor and bites the grandma. One child throws up and falls asleep. And another child never stops crying. What will Peter do about his little brother??? You'll have to read this funny book and find out for yourself!!! |

| Maniac Magee is a wonderful book for any child to read. I read this bbok for me Children's Literature class and I could barely put it down. I found the development of the characters to be wonderful. Without a doubt I loved Amanda Beale, she was my favorite character and was definitely a spitfire. I would recommend that this book be used in intermediate grades. It is age appropriate for fifth grade and up. |

The other, "Twas the Night Before Christmas (Candy Cane Books), began with a sentence I'm going to copy and paste here: While there's no question that the original poem by Clement Moore is a five star piece of work, there are so many versions of this poem in print that any review has to be of the entire book, with more weight on the illustrations, the only difference between them.
