| I ordered multiple copies of this book before I read it and now I am sorry I did. Although the book captures bullying at its worst, I must say I was disappointed that there was no resolution to the pain and suffering Linda experienced at the hands of her classmates. I found it unrealistic for Linda to then join Wendy in tormenting other students. As for Jill, the tables were turned on her, but she never truly understood the pain she also caused Linda. | To me, this book requires some imagination and patience. I could not just breeze through the Prologue and other parts of the book without having to go back and reread some parts. But once I got into the beginning and reading about Arthur, the hesitant hero, the book grew on me.
I found it was quite easy to visualize the main character's adventures when he was on Earth in the beginning, but when the book shifted to the other world..I kind of got confused again. But I did not give up reading the book. ... Read More: |

| These books are pleasing to look at, have heavy paper with beautiful illustrations. The cloth like hardcover and illustration are much prettier in person than in the photograph. |

| I am the mother of a two children, ages seven and five. We have read and reread nearly all of Roald Dahl's children,s stories. In general, I love this author. His stories are entertaining, even magical, and so beautifully written. When reading Dahl, I am always aware that my children are exposed to high quality literature with a richness of vocabulary and ideas. | It's not as charming as all that, and definitely written in a different era - no non-white characters, zoo animals in cages, that sort of thing. There's nothing wrong with that - no sense judging it on our mores - but as it's not overly interesting either I can't sensibly give it more than three stars. |
