Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, is to say the least an interesting book. The stories protagonist, Steve, is put on trial for murder because he "aided in a robbery that led to the murder". The book is written mostly in a format for a movie, for Steve writes the movie script to help him cope with the trial and the trauma that is occurring inside of him. In the end, Steve is found innocent and released, but Myers is never clear if Steve really did assist in the robbery, leaving the reader to have to choose for themselves ... Read More:

In which the Baudelaires are again totally on their own (whither Mr. Poe?) within easy reach of Count Olaf at the titular carnival. The intensity is building, and the events seem to be escalating in number and unfortune.

This book was okay. It had a lot of interesting parts, but way more boring parts. It has a lot of interesting parts like when Mr. Maxwell gave Mark a permission slip to go to something called A Week In The Woods. I wondered what was going to happen to Mark in A Week In The Woods. The boring part is about 100 pages long. That is why it is more boring than good. It is really boring when Mark escapes from Mr. Maxwell's truck and then Mr. Maxwell is looking for Mark, and then Mark is trying to run away from Mr. Maxwell, but then decides ... Read More:

Books : Tears of a Tiger
It is all my fault! I believe Tears of a Tiger is the saddest book I have ever read. This is the first Sharon M. Draper book I have read and I think it is my favorite! This is a modern day story in the town of Hazelwood. The Hazelwood High School basketball team is in a car crash and the star center, Robbie Washington was tragically killed at the age of seventeen (Andy, B.J., and Tyrone survive). Andy Jackson (Robbie's best friend) was driving the car and blames himself for Robbie's untimely death. Andy's friends: B.J., Tyrone, Keisha, (Andy's ... Read More:

Books : Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry
This book was recommended by my child's fifth grade teacher. It was their November book of the month to read for the class. It was a stretch with the slang talk of the south but it was understandable. It was an eye opener to the children as to how things were in the 1930's. Very good book and I would recommend this book to any fifth grade class for group reading and discussion.

A friend loaned me her copies of this series. I enjoyed them so much I wanted my children to be able to read them, but I was apprehensive about having them read her autographed copies, and they weren't available at our local library. I was so delighted to find them at amazon.com and at such a great price I just couldn't pass them up. This is one of those true classics, great for both kids and adults. Enjoy!
