Oh, I was so glad to see a sequel (and there's a apparently a third!) I hope we get to revisit the other house with the new dolls, they seemed to have pretty interesting stories. I'm glad to finally see confirmation of a permanent doll state--wonder if that has any future implications for the next book? Same with the spiders, that whole discussion with Aunt Sarah never really came to anything. Anyways, this book, just like its predecessor, had an imaginative plot, and I was very glad that we actually got ... Read More:

223.Anna Karenina (Cover to Cover) by: Leo Tolstoy

Books : Anna Karenina (Cover to Cover)
Many themes of Anna Karenina are timeless: marriage, infidelity, the roles of men and women, personal fulfillment, honor, spirituality, and naturalism. If that isn't enough, then Tolstoy offers an 18th-century look at Russian society and culture, still well before the run-up to the revolution. Don't look to Tolstoy for enlightened feminism, although one of the characters argues for education and equality for women, and one of the minor threads relates to the status of peasants.

Tolstoy is not especially subtle ... Read More:

I had to read this book for school, and I didn't like it at all. I didn't even finish it! This is not a good book. DO NOT read it. I don't know how many times I fell asleap while reading. My brother had to wake me up several times. I read all the time, and have finished the 800 page books in about one or two days. This book took me like 2 months. This is the boringist book I have ever read.

226.Ramona the Pest by: Beverly Cleary

Books : Ramona the Pest
It's finally happened! Ramona Quimby is old enough to attend kindergarten! She can't wait to do big kid stuff like learn to read and participate in show and tell. Parts of school are confusing, like the song about the dawnzer. But she is making new friends, like Davey, her first crush, and Susan, whose hair is so curly it just cries out to be tugged. But when things go horribly wrong, will Ramona ever return?

I had read this book before but had forgotten just how wonderful it was until I reread it recently. Author Beverly Cleary ... Read More:

SO much better than I expected! The dialogue flowed very well and the characters were all highly realistic. There were some nitpicky things I disliked, though. I think the title was misleading, since they didn't actually go to Birmingham until very late in the story, and to me, it's not the biggest part of the story. (Maybe it should have just been titled 'The Watsons'? Their familial bonds are what the story is about to me.) Another thing that bothered me was the first page, too many similes and metaphors. This is not continued in the rest of ... Read More:

I use this book as part of my 100th day of school celebration. It helps my k students to have empathy for the elderly. We also discuss what they may look like when they are 100. Wonderful illustrations - typical Mem Fox style - perfect! Love it!
