Books : Little Bear (An I Can Read Book)
My two sons (5-year old and 4-year old) have enjoyed this book for a couple years now. They imagine themselves as "little bears" and enjoy adding their own imagination to the book's different stories.

I really liked the "Birthday Soup" chapter best and have used it to teach my sons that no matter how little you have, you always have enough to share.

The book is a classic and you can add it to your storybook collection with Amazon's 4-for-3 special offer. I suggest you pick up "Little Bear's Friend" ... Read More:

Books : Bear Called Paddington
A Bear Called Paddington, written by Michael Bond and illustrated by Peggy Fortnum, is a children's book, and the first in a series of books featuring the Paddington Bear character. This book is a collection of stories about Paddington, an anthropomorphized bear from Darkest Peru, who is well-mannered and well-intentioned, but bumbling and destructive. Indeed, Paddington is one of the archetypes of well-meaning-but-destructive humor characters, along with Amelia Bedelia, Inspector Clouseau, and so forth, and this type of character is one of ... 206.Feed by: M. T. Anderson
2003-05
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : Feed
Rather than focusing on the political aspects of a dystopia, Anderson focuses on the cultural aspects. Almost everyone has an implanted "feed" from a very young age which gives them access to unlimited information, but also seems to allow corporations unlimited access to the individual. Everyone is constantly bombarded with offers and news of sales from corporations. This has the somewhat predictable result of dumbing down the population, to the point where all they care about are stupid shows on the feed, and shopping. But wait, that sounds kind ... Read More:

MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE is one of my favorite horse books! Henry writes with such an understanding of the bond between Misty and her human family. Funny, heartbreaking and full of horses. A perfect read!

Books : The Black Cauldron (The Prydain Chronicles, Book 2)
When I first read this book in 1985, the book cover had the Disney movie poster on it and I was surprised to see how little resemblance there was between the film and the book. The second book in Alexander's superlative series has Taran sitting in a council of men for the first time and being assigned to aid Prince Gwydion in finding and destroying a weapon, the Black Crochan (or cauldron) that gives life to dead warriors and is in the hands of Arawn Death-Lord.

Taran learns more of what being a man entails from the gentle Adaon, son of the Chief Bard ... Read More:

Books : Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great
We borrowed this book from the library after we read a couple of the Fudge books that we had on the shelf at home. I was surprised that the text now refers to a CD player and personal computers used by children, even though neither existed at the time the book was written. I found the changes jarring and wondered what else had been changed in the book that wasn't so obvious.
As an adult, I was disturbed by how casually the subject of friends being mean (or at least brutally honest) to one another is treated in the book. I don't remember it bothering me when I first ... Read More:
