| My mom read me this book when I was...5? I'm 30 years old now and I don't like to say the name of this book out loud. I'm not scared easily, but I think I have PTSD from this! You teachers and librarians who think this book with "no blood, no gore" is innocent fun are deluded. It's a good story, and it's horribly scary. Don't read to small kids! |

| This re-telling of the classic tale is absolutely stunning in its illustrations. The storyline definately needs explaining to small children. My 3 year old son wanted to know why the small man could take the Queen's baby away. Of course, Rumpelstilskin never actually takes the baby because the Queen learns his name. | I read Ida B in about 3 days. Katherine Hanningan is an incredible author with a wonderful way of placing you right into the heart of her characters. You feel what they feel and think the way they seem to think. Her writing style will make you smile. I thought that this book is a good recommendation for anyone wanting an entertaining read especially younger readers. | Let me begin by saying that Brian Jacques has my utmost respect. Having had the extreme pleasure of meeting him in person twice, I view him as both an amazingly talented author and a fantastic human being. I started reading his Redwall series when I was in middle school and eagerly picked up the Castaway series during my college years. I have never been disappointed with his uncanny ability for storytelling and creating memorable characters.
