Books : Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
The Deathly Hallows brings to a close perhaps the most beloved book series of all time. Harry Potter has become a cultural phenomenon the likes of which we have never seen before. To say expectations were high is an understatement of the highest order.

The book starts in uncharted territory - without Albus Dumbledore as leader. The absence of Dumbledore was, of course, essential to Harry's journey, and it shows early on in the fact that the book edges much further into chaos than the ... Read More:

Don't know what it is about this book, but it is amazing. The illustrations are repetative, the text sometimes ridiculous, ("goodnight nobody"?!) But it works magic. It simply reads like a lullaby. My children have each loved it as toddlers, and number six is proving to be no exception. (We have bought her a new copy as our old one is falling apart from being so well loved!)

Books : Where the Wild Things Are
This is one of the only books I remember from my childhood. Instead of your typical cutesy little kid story, you have something with real imagination and fun. It's an original story line with very unique illustrations. I know many adult artists who still love this book for its artwork.

I used to spend hours studying these illustrations as a child and now I'm a successful artist and I still love them. The point of these illustrations, or rather, any illustration is to supplement imagination, ... Read More:

Good Night Lullabies My two grandsons, ages 4 and 6, liked this book a lot. It appealed to their imaginations and the illustrations were excellent. The story loses a bit of momentun at the end, and lost the kid's interest a bit. But, overall, a fun book.

This was a great book! It made us laugh. We liked the part when Alexander fell in the mud, and when his foot got stuck in the elevator. You should read this book because it is a funny book. If you read it, we think you will like it. We would recommend it to both adults and kids, especially for people who are not having a good day. It will make them feel better. Happy reading!

Do not buy from this seller - false ads and bogus copies. I ordered what was supposed to be a NEW DVD and instead was shipped a BADLY BURNED COPY. And the seller never replied to my email - fortunately, Amazon has wonderful customer service.

Books : The Tale of Despereaux
I read this book to both my 6 & 8 year old each night, a few chapters at a time. They always asked for it the next night and helped me read it to them. It kept them interested and I thought it was a good story. They now want to see the movie when it comes out. This will give us a good chance to discuss the differences between what is read (author's point of view) and the translation to movie format (director's pov).

J. K. Rowling introduces to us in this fabulous story, the tale of a young boy who is anything but average. You see Harry is a wizard who has been sent to live with his muggle relatives after the death of his parents. His relatives try to thwart his becoming a wizard by any means possible. This causes Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to send Hagrid the game keeper to bring him to Hogwarts and thus begins the magical tale of how a young oppressed boy finds friendships, danger, and a mortal ememy who wants nothing less than his death. ... A lot of teenage girls are claiming that the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer "sucked them in from the first page". Funny, because Twilight didn't work for me (but that is neither here nor there)...but Inkheart did.

As a lover of books since before I could even read properly, I love the attention to details and description that Funke puts into this novel, and the shout-outs to classics (such as Meggie and Mo using Elvish writing from The Lord of the Rings, my favorite book). I couldn't begin to explain why, but the style captured my attention ... Read More:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince follows 16-year-old Harry Potter through his sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book is darker than any of the prequels.

The book begins on a serious note. The new Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour warns the muggle Prime Minister of Voldemort's return. Voldemort is ready to kill on impulse and should be avoided by both members of the magic community and members of the muggle community. The number one target, of course, is the protagonist, Harry Potter. Harry has survived ... Read More:
