| The first kingdom keepers was great. I found it to be stimulating, engaging, funny and interesting. The development of characters was strong, the dialogue stimulating yet at the same time easy, while the plot was interesting and mysterious. The characters were likable and the book itself had a sense of magic

| I listened to this on audio CD and I really wanted to like it because it's a National Book Award finalist. (And it's about kittens. Who doesn't like kittens?) The story should have been simple and touching but it was over-done. I kept wanting it to be over and it was a chore to keep listening. I can't imagine how young children with short attention spans would react to it. I'm twenty-six and I couldn't take it. |

| I bought the cd's first. When I first played the book 1, my 2 kids (ages 2 & 4) didn't show too much interest in listening. So I thought maybe with the books, they would show interest. So I bought the books 1-4. As soon as I receive the books, I sat with them, read with them (translate the words, too - we are bi-lingual). | I don't know why this book got such a low rating!Yeah, it might not have been his best book, but it was still great. Filled with danger, twists in the plot, and a heads up about global warming.

| I have read over 200 pages of this book in just a few days - it is that good. The Eyes of the Want was quite slow and very depressing but this one is more energetic and fun - similar to the first book in the series.
I love the story line of Foo and the characters. They are all so different but they all connect in such a way that is magical yet down to earth. I'd really like to see this series be a movie someday. Thanks Obert Skye - you are a great writer. |

| My 11 year old son loved reading this book. This is the story of a boy and girl who decide to challenge each other by not talking for a couple of days. They also get the rest of fifth graders in the same contest.
It is interesting to see the abilities they develop to communicate without talking. It is a great lesson for a child, and it also changes their perception of the stereotype of girls and boys. |

| I purchased this book based on the cover. I am glad I did. I feel that this is a finely written and entertaining story. The characters are each different, but so well defined, I could easily imagine them. As a teacher, this type of book allows for a teachable moment in character development. The characters fit nicely in the story and have a wonderful relationship. I feel that new readers or reluctant readers may enjoy meeting the Penderwick family. |
