| The story of a 'frightful little girl', whose point of view changes as she discovers the secrets of her new surroundings.
A well-written story at times, but it definitely had its draggy moments. It seemed to promise more than it delivered(I expected more of a fantasy tale, along the lines of 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.) | I believe that a narrator can really make an audio book and Flo Gibson does such a fabulous job of the voices of the characters in "The Wind in the Willows". This is one of my son's all time favorite books and audio books. I highly recommend it. |

| An Honor Book for 2005, "Whittington" is, at the very least, worthy of this placement. (The 2005 Newbery Award Book is "Kira-Kira," a book I have not read and cannot make a comparative judgment.)
"Whittington" is a special book for several reasons (to be outlined here). I find the stories to be a concatenation (series of stories linked together), skilfully linked. But don't trust my opinion. | Very interesting book about a smart boy who encounters a dragon and goes on a grand adventure. The exact type of book i have grown up reading and the type of book i encourage my son to read. | Garth Nix has captured the attention of my sons and made reading something they actually want to do. I catch my ten year old hiding under his covers at night with a book-light to finish these books. Any book that captures the attention of boys in this video game age is my hero. |

| I am a huge Jacques fan ad when I first read the series I read it in about six months. Personally I strongly disagree with the last reviewer who said that said Jacques is getting worse as he goes on. DONT LISTEN TO HIM. I agree that Jacques continues his repetitiveness but he has to doesnt he? Who would read these books if they always had bad guys winning and the main characters dying?
