| Yes, there are similarities between the Book of Three and the Lord of the Rings: Both feature a wizard, a ranger type figure, a bad guy in a mask and a strange little creature who slithers around talking about eating. If you read enough fantasy you'll see these type of characters turn up again and again, and you'll often be able to draw comparisons with Tolkien. | This was such a good book! I don't care if it was in the children's section of the library, everyone should read it. It reads like something straight out of one of those adventure dreams, where you have to go on a quest and are on the run from evil people and all that. It also reads much like something written by Lemony Snicket. (Does anyone know who the real author of this is?) | The story started off quite engagingly, though I thought I'd discovered the secret right away (chapter 4!). It turns out I'd only discovered a small secret and the big one was still to come! There's also an element of reality (yes, in a fantasy book!) that struck me. Not everyone is perfectly redeemed, people don't always do the smart thing (but they also aren't made extremely stupid just to advance the plot). | This is a wonderful addition to the Charlie Bone series. I recommend it to anyone who likes Harry Potter-you'll find another young outsider to root for. This series is also a little less dark than the Harry Potter series, so it's easier for younger listeners to listen to. |

| As someone who read Cassandra Clare's Draco Trilogy (DT) fan fiction a very long time ago, I remember feeling underwhelmed after reading "City of Bones" because a great deal of the characterization of Jace and Clary came from the DT. Now, over a year later, I have returned to the series and just completed reading "City of Ashes." I was very pleased to see a progression from heavily DT-influenced characterization of the protagonists to something that is more subtle. | This was the first Carl Hiaasen book I read, so perhaps starting with one of his books geared towards young people was an odd choice. I enjoyed this book immensely, and often laughed out loud while reading it.

| I've been a fan of Gaiman for some time now, and Interworld was a title that intrigued me from the start. The story was well constructed and completed a wonderful introduction to a strange multiverse of characters and struggles.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the story was too short. We received only the briefest of introductions to a vast and somewhat timeless struggle between this group caught between two powerful organizations.
