| Nicholas Sparks has done it again! This book starts out having you wonder how it will be anything like the jacket says. Then it grabs you in and doesn't let go. We have a good guy, bad guy and the lady in between. What could be more entertaining?
I felt as if I was there with Logan, walking, taking care of dogs. This book is destined for the big screen. What a great story to see! Thank you Mr. Sparks for a book so entertaining! |

Professor Bacevich has not only the professional but also the personal credentials by having lost a son in the Iraq war. | This is one of those books that is a little gimmicky and annoying at first--as is the title--but, if you stick with it, you will get past some of the pretentious writing and then slip into a vivid tale of how strangers find one another and provide the love and support they need after a very harrowing struggle during and after WWII. Overall, it's an enjoyable historical fiction tale that is engrossing enough to make one believe that the events actually occurred. |

| This is a page-turner with interesting characters and an intriguing central mystery, but Reg Keeland's English translation (first published in London) lurches from fluid and lyrical to awkward, and could use some editing for American readers. The lingering British spelling of judgment as "judgement" is particularly annoying.
It is a shame that Stieg Larsson died young. He showed great promise as a mystery writer, especially in those sections of the book where he draws upon his experience in magazine publishing. Read More: |

| I cannot say that I really enjoyed reading this novel, although it was very well written with a finely drawn cast of characters and a plot that propels the reader forward to a not unexpected denoument. Unfortunately, despite the fine writing, Le Carre's cynicism and despair at the current state of geopolitics make for a depressing dip into the world of banking, terrorism and the lengths to which governments will go in the name of state security.
