| It was priced around $7 something at Walmart so I bought it. I read the Twilight not too long ago so I decided to read on.
Here is my take on this book and the series upto this 2nd book. Let me tell you all that this book is, indeed, for Young Adults (primarily teenage girls). I am NOT going to call it flawed but I must admit that story and characters are not to my liking. | I'll give it 4 stars. The book, after all, is written for high school kids! I bought the book due to movie hype. I do love reading first time authors, I find they are often an authors best books. I do plan to buy the next book, and have hopes that the author expands.
Bottom line, I thought Stephanie Meyer caught the angst of high school romance, as if she graduated last June. I was transported back (was it really 40 years!), and was impressed with her ability to stir the memory of high school crushes. ... Read More: |

| I thoroughly enjoyed this book along with all of the other's in this series. Was it my favorite, no, that would be Twilight. But it still was a great book that was hard to put down. A lot of readers on here claim it's too far fetched, a vampire pregnancy and Bella is no longer Bella when she turns. But remember everybody, THIS IS FICTION! That is what makes it believable. | The book iteslf is written as a book of fables for young wizards and witches and so the tales themselves seem simple and straightforth. I was really excited to be able to read the full versions of stories hinted at in the HP series. The real treasure of this book, though, is Dumbledore's commentary on each story. He analyzes the stories, makes humorous commments, and enlightens us to the "history" behind them. This is a one sitting read. | I went and saw the twilight movie over Thanksgiving break after seeing a brief trailer one night on tv. After the movie I was obessed with finding out what was going to happen to these charactors next. I asked my husand to pick up the books the very next day. I read each of them in less than 24 hours time. So I finshed books 2, 3 and 4 in about 3 days. I couldn't put them down. | I wrote a review a few hours ago, and I wanted to write another that approaches the complaints of people that disliked this book.
Many people have pointed out thing books like "emotional intelligence" that were published many years ago and over similar subjects. I agree, they do, but Gladwell covers them in a far more interesting and memorable way. Also I think Gladwell's coining a new term "practical intelligence" isn't a way of hiding his inspirations.
