| This book takes place on a ranch in Texas. The characters are Hank, Drover, Loper, the coyotes, and Bruno. Hank is the boss for guarding the ranch at night. He watches out for the chickens. But Hank got sick of the ranch. He tries to find the kill of the chickens, but eats one of the dead ones instead. Then he went to live with the coyotes and still tries to find the chicken killers. | This is the original Rainbow Fish story which is a simple moral tale designed for very young children. The Rainbow Fish is beautiful, but arrogant and selfish. He has to learn that superficial qualities such as beauty and wealth cannot be valued over friendship and happiness.
It is at best an oversimplification to say this is a book about sharing, and I cannot agree at all with the reviewers who claim it is about being forced to give up one's unique identity in order to fit in with the crowd. ... Read More: |

i got my first eloise book when i was 6, and i am now 13 and last year i got my first eloise doll. i think the book has no age limits, as kay thompson wrote in the front cover of "Eloise" the first book "a book for precious grown-ups". my mum still sometimes borrows my copy to read. there are alot of things in it that you dont pick up on the first time you read it, and only now am i getting some of the jokes in it. i agree, to hard for ... | It's a board book, and another in the too-long line on non-Rey "Curious George" titles, but this one is near-perfect bedtime reading.
Loaded with cute illustrations (done not in the classic Rey style but that of the animated PBS Kids series), it should help any child develop a bedtime routine and get to sleep with a smile. |

| I love Dr. Seuss more than anybody. I have almost all of his books. I was so very disappointed with this book. I searched for it while I was pregnant with my first child but could only find Oh, The Places You'll Go! which I love. When I became pregnant again I finally found this book only for it to basically be an advertisement for all the other books. I guess I had expected it to be meaningful like Oh, The Places You'll Go! | This tale of a bunny found in a movie theater showing Dracula is as old as I am. But the lovably dumb dog who is the point of view character and his cat friend who is too smart for his own good really seem to connect with kids. This books also has just enough tension to be exciting and enough camp to make the mystery safe rather than scary. Horror fans take note, this is a great starter book for the genre.

| Story was great -- but the reader, very poor. Reader tried to imitate voices - making the characters come off very goofy and irrating. A consistant voice telling the story would be strongly preferred. |
