| I received this book as a gift. My one-year old loves this book. It is a favorite at bedtime. He does something consistently every time we read it that he does with no other book: he leans over and kisses Biscuit on the final page. Neither I nor my husband ever did this or encouraged it. We have no idea why he does this other than he's expressing love for Biscuit. Of late, he's also decided Daisy and her kittens are worthy of a kiss earlier in the book as well. | As board books go, this is a looong one, yet, "Gossie" holds one's interest even as it introduces a barnyard full of prepositions and situations. Oliver Dunrea's idyllic little watercolor and ink drawings are a beguiling mix of innocence and sheer pluck and energy. Gossie occupies the center of the page, generally waddling across safe, cozy little settings. There's lots of white space, with Gossie invariably pictured in profile. (Funny... although she's a gosling, she looks more like a duck to me.)

| This is a beautiful book for toddlers. Fisher Price makes a good quality product and this one has heavy cardboard pages will stand up to little hands who are eager to turn pages. Little flaps hold surprise photos underneath and my 2 year old granddaughter loves looking for the hidden pictures. Good choice for fun reading time. |

| We've used the Bob books, Diego phonics, Curious George phonics and by far this is the best "set" of books for my 4 year old boy. Each book focuses on a different phrase, so the repetition of certain words builds confidence.
The stickers have been a great reward system, for us. Generally I am selective about when using rewards - I'd prefer my son learn to read simply for the enjoyment of reading, and not for the sticker - but I have to say that stickers work! I volunteer for 1st & 2nd graders ... Read More: |

| The Maisy series is fantastic. The colorful illustrations and simple story lines have my toddler hooked. She has memorized all four of her books including Maisy Goes Shopping. Naturally toddlers love repetition, which means we read them together every day.
Because they are so thin, they easily travel with us everywhere. I get frustrated when my daughter tears the thin pages. But if they were board books, they wouldn't travel as well. |

| This book was for my granddaughter. She loves Maisy and it is very hard to find books or DVDs in the stores. She was very happy to receive this book. It came quickly, in good condition and the best part for me was that there was no shipping charge. |

| This is my favorite Christmas story from childhood. I still get tears when I read it today. I have given copies of this book to several children over the last Christmases in hopes that it will effect them as it has me. |

| This is a very colorful book. There are some design flaws, some text is difficult to read and the text is more suitable for a 1-2 year old, the illustrations are well done and my 2yr. old son is entertained. |

| We were so let down when we received this tiny little board book. Though most of the (6) illustrations are sweet, they are much too small to be appreciated. The text is terribly dull and silly, and the book does not "flow" at all. Our 15-month old (who LOVES both books and birds) has no interest at all in this book, and neither do we.
My advice is to avoid this book and instead go for "About Birds: A Guide for Children" by Cathryn Sill (also for sale on Amazon). Unlike this book "About Birds" has lots of beautifully illustrated ... Read More: |
