| First of all, Amazon.com seems to have screwed up somehow and most of the reviews here are for "The Owl and the Pussycat" illustrated by Jan Brett which transfers this classic tale into a Caribbean setting bursting with colors. I collect versions of this poem so I have that book too and it is truly beautiful. But the one on this page was illustrated by James Marshall and according to the afterword by Maurice Sendak, this was some of his last work before his death. So please don't buy this one based ... | This publication of "Little Quack" is nice with the addition of a dial that allows the kids to turn the dial as ducks enter the pond overcoming their fear, and responding to the encouragement of their mother. The story does not differ. |

| No one who writes a birding book and says "sea gulls" instead of "gulls" is a birder. This is one of the all time no no's for birders. While the book doesn't refer to Canada gees as Canadian geese, it's still a huge mistake. An Eastern guide and a Western guide for young naturalists would be more useful. Editing by a naturalists would help. |

| We were so let down when we received this tiny little board book. Though most of the (6) illustrations are sweet, they are much too small to be appreciated. The text is terribly dull and silly, and the book does not "flow" at all. Our 15-month old (who LOVES both books and birds) has no interest at all in this book, and neither do we.
My advice is to avoid this book and instead go for "About Birds: A Guide for Children" by Cathryn Sill (also for sale on Amazon). Unlike this book "About Birds" has lots of beautifully ... Read More: |

| My daughter is in 4th grade and definitely not a reader....until now. She picked one from her school library and could not put the book down, so I ordered the series and within a week in a half she has read 4 of the books!!!! Need I say more?! oh except THANK YOU Mr. Gutman |

| This is a great bird book for youngsters. It has excellent pictures, wonderful illustrations, and perfect age appropriate descriptions. Give this to your children and extend the life of your own bird books! My twin 4+ year olds love it and read it constantly on car rides. They have become especially fond of using the space provide for recording what species they have seen and where.
