The other reviewers pretty much said it all. Compelling and entertaining. It's as well written as a good detective novel. What is especially interesting is how there could be anyone who would resist the idea of rats, mosquitos or contaminated drinking water having something to do with the spread of disease. How on God's Green Earth did humanity survive, with the population being 99% imbeciles?

Microscopes in toy stores haven't really changed much with time. There are better-quality models now available, but the box still usually contains the 'scope and a few dozen glass slides of blood, insect parts, and such. Rarely are the directions enough to keep a child's interest in microscopy alive for more than a few weeks, at best. This book offers a guided tour of the microscopic world, in the form of 59 "adventures" which range from the kitchen to backyard pond or shoreline. More than instructions ... Read More:

Birds do it. Bugs do it. Fish do it. Dogs and cats do it. Even you and I do it. So why not read a funny, fabulous, book about it.
Poop grabs your attention from the funny cartoons on the dust jacket to the smeary brown streaks on the inside covers.
Nicola Davies knows how to create a lure for that reluctant reader, to engage, entertain, and educate.
The young reader gets so caught up in the hilarious illustrations and the absorbing, fascinating text, that he doesn't even realize he's reading ... Read More:

I think that this book is very informative on what we are doing to our environment. This book tells about Rachel Carson's life, family, career, and more. It tells about how she fought to keep our environment clean and safe for everyone. She warned people in her book, Silent Spring, which can also be found here on Amazon.com. Well, I cannot spoil this book! What I can tell you is that this is a great book which you should read.

This book is a good overview of the history of life on earth. There are a lot of great pictures in the book.

Some parents may want to be aware the book presents earth's material from an evolutionary perspective. Although I personally do not think that the scientific case for biological evolution has been definitive proven, I use this book as a supplement to our homeschool curriculum to expose my kids to the basic ideas of evolution. I want them to respect this perspective and not lampoon it. And this book is a great ... Read More:

I would like everyone to know that this book is super great. I was like so confused at first, but now everything is crystal clear. I learned that fertilization in a plant occurs in it's uterus and after gastrulation occurs the spores shoot out of the carpel and undergo a meiotic phase called the acrosomal stage. So like, if you're stumped about which bio book to get, you should totally get this one!

Books : Woods (One Small Square)
What a gem! I was surprised when I discovered this book. The gist of the book is for the child (or adult) to mark off a square space in the woods and begin exploring and learning. This book is a real integration of activities, suggested observations, and fact. The learner is to explore, dig, look, observe and investigate every inch of this square area. While suggesting the learner look for this or that, the author provides factual information about various findings. The book goes into a lot of detail and there are many things that ... Read More:
