| I purchased this book for my daughters who are teachers. They teach the life cycle of the monarch butterfly and this book is a dream for teaching. The pictures are beautiful and the story is easy to understand.
I even learned things from it. |

| I am a biology teacher and I have advanced degrees in Biochemistry. I really dislike the textbook "Modern Biology" by Towle. In my experience some topics are placed in the least opportune places. Thus while the topic of redox reactions is introduced in Chapter 2, there is no real tie-in to anything else until Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration in later chapters. | Readers that disapprove of this book may be missing the point of their own biological present. How could agile gibbons and even homo sapiens have evolved from rodent-like mammalian ancestors? "The Human Body" by Seymour Simon is about how the body works. There was some really good information in the book, but the best part was definitely the pictures. There are pictures on pretty much every page. There is a neat colored x-ray of the skull. There is a 2-page drawing of a see-through body where you can see all the blood vessels and organs. | We absolutley love these books!! We received them as a gift and we are all intruiged by them. The photos are incredible! My three year old now loves the sea and it's creatures. My seven year old is starting to read them on her own. I have learned so much just reading to my kids. A must buy for any child on your holiday shopping list!!
