| I don't like to read reviews and descriptions of a book prior to reading it because so very often they give away too much and spoil the book for me. This book was given to me as a gift and I just assumed it was fiction. I kept waiting for some sort of story to evolve, a plot, a direction. Took me many a chapter to even realize this was non-fiction and basically a collection of anecdotes. Perhaps I would have enjoyed the book more if I had realized that at the onset.

| My husband handed me this book at a local bookstore. He had simply picked it up and opened it to a random page and read one of the short stories. I read it and proceeded to cry. After paging through it I knew that I had to buy this book. One for myself and another as a Christmas gift for my dad. I am going to write a card that lists just a few of the reasons that my father is the best there is.
I definitely recommend this book. Buy a couple! They make excellent gifts! |

| I am completely satisfied with my purchase of Life's Classic Collection. I remember seeing many of these photographs when my parents subscribed to the weekly copies of Life in the 1950s and I have already framed and mounted several photos on the wall of my study. They make a great addition to my collection.

| Actually, I got this book on audio CD from the library. Most of the discs had scratches on them, so I had to check out the book, too, to read the parts I'd missed. Anyway, this compelling story involved me in this ongoing crisis much more deeply than what I had read in the news. While I was already somewhat aware of the conflict in Sudan, Valentino's story made it real for me. All of the characters were completely believable.
