| Ambrose's 'Eisenhower' is a very popular book, if the reviews here are anything to do by. I would seem to be a lone voice of dissent, in that I was not impressed by this tome. Oh, it's not a bad *book* - Ambrose writes well and vividly - it's just a bad BIOGRAPHY. Ambrose himself admits in the first couple of pages that he has immense respect for Ike as a great and good man. Oh dear. | This sequel to Persepolis was just as powerful as the original, detailing Marjane's difficulties as an immigrant in a new country. Her life in Austria gets off to a rough start as she ends up boarding at a Catholic school where she knows no one. When she finally finds friends, she ends up taking drugs, and at one point lives on the street as a homeless person. After hitting rock bottom, she returns to Iran only to find out that she doesn't fit in there anymore.

For those concerned, this book acknowledges that archeologists do not agree when human beings "trekked across the Ice Age land bridge from Siberia". It states various theories as to who & when people were in the Americas. Love the organization of the book and so will be wonderful resource in our American studies. |

| This is basically an illustrated, Cliff's notes of St. Nicholas' biography. It has nice illustrations and has a lot of information, dates, and locations of events surrounding St. Nic's life. There are aspects of the biography that I just don't believe to be fact, but more lore, such as no toddler would really refuse to eat or drink milk preferring to pray all Holy Saint's Day.
