First Kids is a book with biographies about all the first kids. There are also facts about the White House, kids who help their dads in the White House, and stuff the Presidents liked to do. I'm nine years old and I liked the book a lot because it's interesting learning about the kids of the Presidents instead of just the President. There are also interesting facts that you wouldn't think of wanting to know right away like how Amy Carter had the same room as Caroline Kennedy, Luci Johnson, and Tricia ... Read More:

The "Who Was..." series is a wonderful way to get kids to read about history. They'll learn different & interesting things in these books they won't get anywhere else. My children asked for them for Christmas! They can't put them down. I homeschool and these are a great tool for learning. My 11 year old reads them on her own very well and my 7 yr. old reads them with a little help. Highly recommend.

It's beautiful and teaches kids (and parents) how to appreciate art in a simple way. Lifelong lesson that demystifies art. Love it. It engaged my son since he was 3 and he's 4 and still loves it.

This is my favorite Christmas story from childhood. I still get tears when I read it today. I have given copies of this book to several children over the last Christmases in hopes that it will effect them as it has me.

Can you imagine what it took to be the only child--the only black child--in an empty school building formerly attended by only white children? That's what Ruby Bridges faced in 1960 when she became one of the first black children to integrate an elementary school in New Orleans. Three other girls were sent to another school. A new revolution had begun.

"The Story of Ruby Bridges" was written for the 4-8 audience. The writing and subject might be a little much for pre-readers, but this is definitely material for ... Read More:

It is too bad that such a wonderful book is so poorly constructed. Mine fell apart the first time I read it! The text and pictures are wonderful, but the book itself is a waste of money.

I love this book by Ms. Sparks. Its something I believe every teenage girl should read at one point in time in her life. My aunt made me read this book when I was younger and I just fell in love with it. It's a very inspiring novel about the teenager.

This historical fiction is based on the true life of Helmuth Hubener, who made leaflets against the Nazis during WW2. I enjoyed this book and like how the author included one important fact of Hubener life, his faith. This story shows the courage of one teen who was willing to stand up to something he thought was evil.

At the end of the book is interesting information on Helmuth and his friends. Also photos, some that are chilling.

I agree this may indeed be a book for slightly older children. My daughter does not like this book nearly as much as I do. The drawings are wonderful, and I plan to buy more from this series when she is a bit older.
