| What's amazing is that this is a true story, true excerpts from the author's childhood. They are written without fluff and cheese, but the emotion is still strong and real. I like how it is written in the form of individual stories--somehow it makes these events all the more poignant. It's real, harsh, and opens eyes to the lives of migrant workers. |

| I am so glad that I read this book. I found it uplifting and inspirational. How amazing that women like this lived, and I am so grateful they shared their story. It is not something I normally would have read, but I am grateful that I gave it my time. It was a very quick read. |

| The paintings in this book are so beautiful and full and tell so much. You can see grandmothers rocking babies, children playing with each other, every little detail so sharply rendered. Look at the plates of empanadas in the kitchen and the family gathered for a backyard party. The honest, person text--given in both English and Spanish--make this perfect. | One of the things I love about Ambrose's books is the personal history he brings to the subject. If you look at the bibliography of "The Wild Blue" you will notice that many of the sources are interviews he has done with many of the characters in the book, along with other primary source materials. What this does is brings a very personal style to the telling of these stories. Other so-called "oral histories" are bland and often read like a transcript. | Outstanding book! I am fortunate to know Dr. Davis. No wonder why this is such a great story. A great man with an incredible outlook on life. He spent some time mentoring my nieces while they were attending Rutgers University and inspired them to do great things. Doc, They both graduated and are attending grad school:) Thank you!
