| As a child I loved this book and I recently picked it up for nostalgia's sake. While I still like the illustrations and the story itself, I can't help but notice the frequency of poor grammar and clunky sentence structure. Where were the editors and proofreaders? How did this book make it to shelves without corrections? Anyway, it's still enjoyable... if a bit sloppy. |

| This is a terrific book that should be part of a home library and would be enjoyed by children of multiple levels. This is definitely a more extensive history than that of many "children's" books. The omission of the end of Lincoln's life may be considered a plus to some parents who are not ready to share that part or a disapointment to those who desire a more complete biography.

| Great little book. Both the writing and illustrations work really well. Humerous and informative. My kids(10 and 8) really enjoyed this book. As did I. An intelligent way to make history fun for younger readers. |

| While this book is written for teens it doesn't matter because it does an exceptional job of telling the story of Mark Twain's life and the Wild West. Amazon and the critical reviews indicate it is for ages 9-12 but it easily goes higher, through middle school, to paint a picture of this character's life. Plus, Sid Fleischman is nothing shy of a genius when it comes to writing. He's givens readers engaging and thought provoking books. This book is brilliant. |

| This is the first book I read my six year old about the holocaust and World War II. It gave a sense of the times, the difficulty, the hatred of the Jews by the Germans, without being too explicit about the type of horrors the "boots" inflicted on those they "took away." It motivated a great deal of discussion and acting out of the story. I could not imagine a better introduction. |

| I purchased the Gandhi DK biography and was really surpised. DK is well known for their complex layouts with numerous pictures, drawings, and outtakes. They've done an excellent job with this biography providing frames that discuss historical and religious aspects, such as Hinduism, that are critical to Gandhi's life, but would deviate from the story being told if they were integrated into it.

| I picked this book up at my son's school book fair. While it is designated as a young adult book, I was not sure of the reading level, so I decided to read the book myself. The reading level is reasonable for a teenager or possibly younger child, but there is no reason why this shouldn't be an adult book! The book includes many - if not most - of the Frank Hurley photos. It also provides a "real life" perspective, from the diaries of the crew, of the expedition. | I deducted one star because she uses Roman Catholic religious terminology that I wasn't familiar with. That is to say, they failed to provide a glossary.
Her book is more lengthy than her husband's autobiography of surviving the Holocaust (Max Liebster, a Jewish Jehovah's Witness) I could feel her loneliness and also her strength and determination to win the race for life because Jehovah kept strengthening her at the right moments to that she never felt alone!
