| It is too bad that such a wonderful book is so poorly constructed. Mine fell apart the first time I read it! The text and pictures are wonderful, but the book itself is a waste of money. |

| I so loved reading and re-reading the Little House series with my daughter that I had to go to the library and find more that Laura wrote. I loved this account of her 1915 trip to visit Rose in San Francisco - who knew that Rose lived such an interesting life (as a journalist, for instance, she flew with a stunt pilot, strapped to his wing ... )?
A fast, enjoyable read. Little House fans won't be disappointed. |

| My son will read this in school this year in 6th grade, so I read it when we purchased it. I could not put it down. It was a great book. I will look for more by this author!
I am also impressed by our school system - this story will give our 6th graders perspective on what real 'problems' are - not just the trivial things preteens and teens are usually concerned about. |

| Scribner has created a beautiful book in this edition. The illustrations are on heavy glossy paper and are magnificent. There are very nice, free readings of this work online, and so I purchased the book for my young children to enjoy - to read while listening to the narrator. My only complaint is the book is abridged. This is not evident from the description. I think most editions of this work are abridged. When the book ended, I was left wondering what became of Friday, as he is not mentioned again after the final battle. ... Read More: |

| This book is fantastic and I bought it for my students. The problem is she uses the N word so much. I had to comb through the book and ink out the word. I do not want children using that word to each other, and yes my students ARE BLACK, and especially don't want my white student learning he can say the word too. Then again it seems very immature that 1 can use the N word and the other cannot. It's a word that nobody should be using. | When I visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Musuem (for the second time) last October, I saw this book at the cash register when I was buying my other purchases. I quickly thumbed through the book and saw that it had lots of pictures of things in the Lincoln era and since I love looking at photographs and painting from times gone by, I decided on an impulse to buy it.

| The author gives a review of Madison's service and Presidency but not a full biography. There is good information on how the political landscape changed during his Presidency and how Madison, the consummate politician navigated through it. The book is not very deep personally (like say an Ambrose book) but does give a good review of Madison's public service. |

| Early readers, slightly advanced readers, this fairly short book is interesting and informative. If your kid needs to grasp history a little better, this is a book to look at. It's done in a way that kids enjoy and actually pay attention to. Worth the money, easily. |
