| It's hard to describe this novelette in a few words; I just admire it too much. First of all, I'm very fond of Lord Shiva, and it was my original driving factor to buy the book. Second, the book is about a twelve year old girl (named after Lord Shiva's cosmic consort, Parvati, of all names!) who is very fond of dancing, and always wants to dance. | Yes, this book tells the story of Fred and Adele Astaire in a way that kids understand, but it doesn't give a child any reason to care about them. It reads like a resumé -- "first they did this, then they did that, then they did the other thing."
The illustrations are nice out of context, but a ghastly choice for this particular subject. Perhaps the rubbery style was supposed to suggest the fluidity of dance, but it simply makes the dancers look formless and off balance, everything that the Astaires were not. |

| My son received this book for his birthday (he's six). He's just learning the basic sight words and is a very interested reader. Some of the books we had looked at had very little story to it...just a lot of repetition, which we knew would not hold his interest. This book has both--a lot of sight words as well as a cute story! |

| It gave me great pleasure to purchase and now to review Diana's book. I had tried to find copies several years ago but everywhere I looked it was out of stock. Although I have not seen her for many years and never had the pleasure of seeing her dance with the NYC Ballet, I am very proud of her accomplishments and of being able to purchasing copies for my siblings.
