| My mom read to me every night as a child and our library of children's books were immense. I have vivid memories of approx 10 books out of hundreds and this is one of them. I agree with another reviewer that this book captures the quiet and stillness of a snowy winter day in the city. It is a simple book but my daughter loves it as much as I did back in the 80's.

| Very cute illustrations and simple text introduces color mixing. Yellow and blue make green, etc. I always read this story to my kindergarten children and then we experiment with finger paints. Great activity! |

| I read this story, "The Monster at the end of this book" to my daughter 25 yrs. ago, and she loved it. She recently requested I find it, and get it for her little girl. I'm sure she will love it too! The book has thick pages and a glossy finish, better than 25 yrs. ago. |

| My 18-month old carries this book around with him during the day. The photos keep him busy and he loves turning the pages.
There really isn't a story to the book. Just animal noises. Fun to read and I've heard him practicing the noises when he looks at the book himself. Cute book. I'm glad I bought it. |

| Of all the books I received as baby gifts, this book has had the longest lifespan. It was my daughter's favorite book as soon as she was old enough to turn regular pages, and almost a year later, it still is. Unlike shorter board books which become very repetitive, this book still has poems that seem "fresh" to me. Everytime we read it's a different experience, depending how many pages we turn at a time. | A well-meaning friend gave us this book, along with a bunch of others, and all I can say is that the other ones were infinitely better. It's true that our little girl (less than 2) is pretty keen on the book, but within a matter of months she had ripped out the waggling tails and I had grown very, very tired of the artist's limited repertoire of facial expressions, jokes, limp rhymes and cutesy-cuddly anthropomorphic animals. | This is the best book we have to talk to our 15 month old about our coming baby. Since there are no words, we are able to use the words we've chosen ("there's a baby hiding inside mommy") for describing what is happening. She often gets up, comes over, and kisses my stomach when we're reading the book (this is not shown in the book).
