| I bought this for my autistic son when he was small as a way to help engage him. We sang and read together every night for months. It left such an impression on me, that when I discovered that my son had lost the CD, I became a little panicky. I really think Philadelphia Chickens is destined to be a children's classic. | My mother used to read me this story as a kid. I always liked it. As I got older, I began to appreciate it even more for its subtle humor. The story is unique and the illustrations should really be admired. I just bought it for my 2 year old and she seems to enjoy it as well. I highly recommend it. |

| We bought this for our 5 year old son, who will be soon entering kindergarten. We read it everynight and he loves it! The text of the story is neat and the pictures are very colorful, has alot of detail, and my son asks many questions. We like it because it provides important information to a child entering kindergarten and gives them a chance to understand the transition and what to expect. | Of all the Dr. Seuss books I have from my childhood, I hadn't seen this until browsing on Amazon. This is great! (not that I'm surprised coming from the Seuss line). I had a blast reading it, and it's the first book my new daughter has seemed to actually respond to. I'd definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a "new read". |

| This book was on my son's summer reading list, and I had to take a look. I was impressed with all that was packed into this book in a way that pre-adolescents can absorb and understand. Although the topics were tough -- a mother who leaves her young daughter as she searches for herself, and a grandparent's death, among others -- Creech treated the subjects with a fair amount of humor. This book reminded me of "Where the Heart Is" by Billie Letts. Very enjoyable, well-written, and funny -- with a lot of meat for discussion. |
