| This is a fun book and an entertaining story. It's also a good way to teach multiple ways to add to a number and multiple ways to represent a number (2 groups of 25 are equal to 5 groups of 20, both represent 100.) Really awesome book for elementary math teachers. |

| I discovered this book when one of my students brought it to me. It is the right combination of cute illustrations, slightly irreverent writing, and a simple but terrific message about going beyond your usual routine and what that might bring. It's great for kids of all ages! |

| My 3.5yo daughter absolutely loves this book. She will recite a line from it to me and we'll go back and forth "playing out" the story. I just mention "there's a bird on your head!" and she will fall into fits of giggles.
My 2yo son was not as interested (though if it doesn't have construction trucks or diggers, etc, he's not interested either). I think as he gets older he will appreciate the humor and story. Cute story & I bought more based on the success of this one. I recommend to my friends ... Read More: |

| I've reviewed several of the Berenstain Bears books available at Amazon. This one is my least favorite because it is stuck in the mid-1980s. Mother Bear supposes the increased TV viewing is a result of the family switching from a black-and-white TV to a color set or, perhaps, because Papa Bear installed a new antenna atop the tree house.

| Summer of the Monkeys may be historical fiction, but the dialogue is pretty modern and bland. More accurate dialogue would have added charm and humor. Also, the boy compares fireflies to "a million flashlights." The flashlight had not been invented. A quibble, yes, but come on. It takes you out of the story. I thought the challenge of the monkeys was funny, but everything else predictable. The denouement was beyond sappy, beyond belief, and way too saccharine. | I just purchased this for my 33 year old sister as she is going through some hard times with a relationship's break up. This book seems to bring comfort as an old memory of similar books that I loved as a child because they helped me feel safe and see the world in a wonderous way. Can't remember all the titles but they include Old Black Witch, Suzy Squirrel, and other various otters, cats, and creatures. |

| As the title suggests it is a book about things you are not suppose to do. The idea is appealing (in principle) and the title is attractive. however the set of examples are strange and are hard to grasp by the relevant ages (which I assume is between 1-4 years old if we consider that we have about a sentence per page). At this age range some kids did not make it (yet) to the bank. My son who is fascinated by sharks (one reason I bought this book...) was completely poker faced during the whole reading. | We purchased this book for our 4-year-old son, and it became an instant family favorite!
