| As soon as we received this book in the mail, my kids were fighting over it. My eight year old has sat for hours reading and looking at the illustrations in this book. Not only is it appealing visually, but it also teaches good values. I highly recommend this book. |

| My 8 year old son picked this book out because he read "Because of Winn-Dixie" and loved it. He and I both thought Tiger Rising fell short of our expectations. Another thing that really annoyed me is that DiCamillo uses profanity in her telling of this story. Her use of the word "Damn" is extremely inappropriate considering this book is being read by children. "Darn" would have worked equally well. | My 17 month old son loves this book. Today when I went to pick him up from day care, he was holding this book, sat down and started "reading" it. He shook his finger in the air and said "no no monkey bed." All the other kids in the class saw what he was doing and they too (other 17 month olds) started shaking their fingers in the air saying "no no" and tapping their heads (for "bumped his head"). | This is one of my favorites of Ms. Funk's works. She brings the tone of severity down a notch for a fantasy that is adorable and kid-friendly, but still containing all the right ingredients for one exciting story. Maybe it's a little cliche, but it's the classic story we all like: nice dragons fighting against evil monsters with great, quirky characters and mystery and intrigue. Funk even goes a little high fantasy with good ol' fashioned prophecies and ideas.
