| My first grader read this book as part of his history curriculum. He quite liked it though for him it was not easy. He was already familiar with Alexander the Great. Since he is also familiar with stories from mythology and the bible the content did not seem too mature for him. It would be difficult to give any sense of history while steering clear of violence but this telling is not overly gruesome or detailed and does give an overview of Alexander's life which younger readers can read for themselves. ... | Great pop-up book for kids. My 7 year old loved it. Well written and informative. Great if the child already knows some about mummys and Tutankhamun, but a good visual book. The pop ups are a bit fragile and some are a little difficult to open at first. Not reccomended for little children. The pop ups are easy to tear and break. |

| Great pop-up book for kids. My 7 year old loved it. Well written and informative. Great if the child already knows some about mummys and Tutankhamun, but a good visual book. The pop ups are a bit fragile and some are a little difficult to open at first. Not reccomended for little children. The pop ups are easy to tear and break. |

| Great book! It's lavishly illustrated, and has plenty of oddball facts that most kids will find cool--such as the fact that "German women often provided hair for use in wigs and hairpieces. Their hair was preferred, probably because it was blonds in color" (p 83). And it isn't just information about history or gods and goddesses. The book also includes activities for your child--like how to make a mosaic, or build Roman ruins.
