| the problem is that brain science is just in its beginning, too many unanswered questions, I would rather read some book give me some practical advice on the brain, not this kind of not-much-usage science. |

| When asked which book best described how our brains work, an anatomy exhibitor told me "this one has everything we know about the brain...so far." Although this was said tongue-in-cheek, it does seem that Pierce Howard has attempted to do just that. His compilation of secondary research, outlined in laymen's terms, is an interesting mix of deep thought, lightheartedness, earnest attempts to be practical and esoteric leaps into theoretical abstracts.

| As a first time 'mom-to-be', this book was pretty interesting to look at, to see what's going on inside my body so early in my pregnancy. Ususally books on this subject focus on a more developed fetus, so book is good for me, for the time being. I do feel, however, that a different book will need to be purchased for the later months in the pregnancy, as the last trimester is barely discussed.

| This book flows nicely. It gets straight to the point without being overly wordy. Anatomy is not the easiest subject for me, but this book does a good job of explaining the human body and it's functions very clearly and concisely. The diagrams are plentiful and clearly show all viscera, muscles and bones. These authors make use of drawings and cadavers. | I love this book, it's good for brief review any time I want to go over the little things that one forgets after school's over. It's much simpler in the bed than a huge hardcover textbook. |

| Most of the reviews I read about this book talked about how amazing the pictures of the pre-born babies are. While this is true, the book is not focused on just the babies in the womb. Only about a third of the book features the babies: pages 36-152 cover conception, the embryo, and the fetus. Pages 156-268 cover other portions of the bodies systems: organs, brain, bone, bacteria, etc.
The pictures are all very interesting, to be sure, but I do wonder why hardly anyone mentioned the other parts of the book. |

| I had to buy three A&P textbooks for a class I'm taking. This one is by far the best. Easy to understand, chock full of great artwork, and a nice balance between normal functioning (the biggest focus by far) versus common diseases for each system of the body (usually to highlight why normal functioning is so important). My CD was broken, so I can only use the online study tools, and they are helpful. Nice job! |
