| About 2 years ago Iread the original Mysterious Benedict Society to my sons and they enjoyed it. Now they are 9 and 10, and I think this sequel was an even better story to share with them. In the original book, there is a series of challenges, puzzles or tests that had to be solved by the protagonists. My boys really enjoyed trying to puzzle these out. | After Pilgrims of Raine I was very excited when I heard that another book was coming out. Raven Rise really delivered. The characters were dramatic yet comical. I normally don't like first-person point of view stories, but this is the exception.

| This is one of the most original fantasies I have read in a long time. I found it a good read. The first book is by far the best of the three. However, I think parents should read them first before deciding to give them to their children. These are very dark stories. The first book alone includes murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, torture, and betrayal. It is hard to know who is the good guy, and who is the villain. It is also openly anti-church (not that I had a problem with that, but some people might).

| A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle had a great beginning. The first sentence starts out with "It was a dark and stormy night........." I think that is a great way to start out the story. In my view, the characters do not develop a well as I would of hoped they would as the story went along. I kind of got lost as I read the story, but that might just be me and not the books fault. | My 4th grade son who does not love to read absolutely loves this series. I can't get him to stop reading; he is reading instead of TV, video games, outside, etc. I read a few chapters of each of the 4 and they are well written, funny, and full of action/adventure. Great books! |

| This is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. I never heard of it growing up, and my parents were diligent in providing us with the classics. Even today most of the customers in my bookstore don't know it exists. This is a crime, because it belongs right up there with Alice in Wonderland and The Wind in the Willows. It's a fantasy about a bored little boy who gets into a magic car and goes through the phantom tollbooth into a land of adventure. | It's sad that so much of the hullabaloo over this book comes from the fact that the author was a teenager when he wrote it. That's all well and good and impressive, but that does not mean the book is super. I'm sorry, but when I read it, I did not think about how old the author was and take that into consideration.
