I first checked out this book from the library thinking, "Eh. Just something for reading points." Well, let me tell you something. I WAS WRONG!!! This book is about to 6th graders who try to find the missing Vermeer painting, A Lady Writing. The story takes you through twists and turns and has a deep plot. I finished it in two days. Some people may say that this is not the best story, but I am living proof that THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR GREAT STORIES WHATSOEVER!!!! Take my advice and READ ... Read More:

My six year old daughter loves these books! I purchased the books # 1 through #19 which were written by the original author. My daughter is reading at about a 4th grade level. These books are easy to read. She tries to figure out the clues and solve the mysteries. This summer she is reading 1 book every 2 days. They are each about 125 to 160 pages. The best part is the stories are totally appropriate for her age, yet are at a higher reading level than 1st grade. The characters are great! The ... Read More:

I think that Konigsburg writes in an intelligent way, considering the age groups that will be reading the book and how they're going to interpret the material.
Telling the story of a sixth grade academic team, and how they can pull together to become friends, 'The View From Saturday' is a feel good novel that everyone who loves friendship and a learning experience should read.

REVIEWED BY: Wayne S. Walker
The latest "Magic Tree House" book (#39) is now out. This time Jack and Annie are whisked back to the 1870s in the South Pacific to join the crew of the HMS Challenger on their scientific exploration of the dark depths of the ocean. They get to meet some real historical characters, such as scientist Henry Moseley and Professor Charles Wyville Thomson. From 1872 to 1876, the Challenger sailed nearly 70,000 miles around the world and found more than 4,000 new species of sea life. However, ... Read More:

This is truly one of Roald Dahl's best and is pretty much one of the best tributes to childhood he has written. Heck, it's about a whimsical candy shop and it's pure Dahlian. I still melt every time I hear about the mysterious factory and its master. I don't even mind the not-so-sublte morals (though the book does not have them as blatant as the Gene Wilder movie version). It's creative, understatedly intense while drumming up the quirkiness of the factory and the characters, and is wonderfully British. A true children's classic. ... Read More:

Ok, this might be nothing, but in this Managa Scourge's mother Quince says that his father was a ginger cat. I am guessing that the cat in question is Red Tail. It can't be Rusty (aka Firestar) because the way the book reads, Rusty would have been either not born yet or younger than Scourge. Unless of course Red Tail is the father of both Rusty and Scourge. But again, this is just a theory.

Overall this was a carefully thought out story and it gives you an insight on how Tiny became Scourge.
