| I thought the book was really good. I was so tempted to read more at the end! I thought the book was really sad when the Taliban took Parvana's father. But, I think it was really thoughtful when the guys were helping her father up the steps. |

| Okay... not that simple. But simple enough for any kid with the bare basic proficiency :)
Or, you could read it aloud to a younger child, that works too. My nieces (5 and 2.5) request this book often enough. I'm not sure what grabs them - the opposites, Fred's plain bad luck, the silly problem and solution at the end - but they do like it a lot. |

| The design and content of this book is very well-done. However, the problem (a big one) is the construction. The paper used for the pages is quite flimsy. My 18-month old daughter was able to rip the pages with ease due to the cut-out design of the pages.
I would have easily given this a 5-star rating if not for the poor choice in paper. Definitely consider this carefully if buying for younger children. |

| This book is still as delightful as I remember it growing up. My 3 year old loves it, and he is proficient in recognizing his letters after many reads. I like that the letters are big, so the kids can see just what they look like. Best ABC book I have seen so far. |

| ISBN 0375800999 - While this is an abridged version of the original, and those who are familiar with the original might not like the change, it's well worth picking up because it serves as a nice bridge for the littlest readers to those originals.

| This is a very colorful book. There are some design flaws, some text is difficult to read and the text is more suitable for a 1-2 year old, the illustrations are well done and my 2yr. old son is entertained. |
