| It is just like me to set myself up for a surprise. I did not read the description of the product when I bought it. I simply looked at the title and said to myself "I'm in." Once I read the introduction, I was so pleased and intrigued by the collection of stories. I am not really that into scary tales, but this collection is scary, touching and unnerving all in one package. I am already making a reading waiting list of all of my friends to whom I have raved about this book. Such a pleasant surprise! |

| BOY: TALES OF CHILDHOOD was a thoroughly enjoyable autobiography about the early years of British author Roald Dahl. I used to wonder how he came by such an unusual first name until I read that his family originally came from Norway. All of that and more is written in this small book, and some 81 five star reviews preceding mine attest to how truly entertaining it really is. | There's some good descriptions of the story so I won't go into it; however no one so far touches on what the age appropriate level is. It says 4-8, however, when I bought this book, I my kids were just 5 & 2-1/2 yrs old. We are avid(sp?) bedtime book readers, so I am not sure if it is unusual that my younger one listened to the long story as well as my older one. | A 2007 Summer Reading List Mini Review
I never realized before how much the Scooby Doo cartoon series is indebted to the Hardy Boys and other teenage mystery series of that genre. We have a group of teeneage kids, who stumble into mysteries. The scoobies have the mystery mobile. The Hardy's have thir car and their boat aptly named "the sleuth." Scooby Doo seems to be a Hardy boys adventure played for laughs. The capture baddies in this book even bemoan their fate on p.169 stating "If they hadn't come snooping-". Sounds familiar? I ... | What's not to love about Carl? This is the best of the Carl books, save the original Good Dog Carl. In this book, Carl has to watch the baby and a new puppy in the park. The illustrations are multi-layer -- adults will pick up on things that kids won't (like the different art schools of the painters in the park). Adding the puppy is a fun twist. I was really glad to see this story in a board book for toddlers. |

| Is it just me, or does de Paolo have one of the best artistic styles out there? Not only is he a master of art, but he is a grand story teller and is able to retell this story with a childlike wonder that, of course, brings out the necessary wisdom and meaning. I'm a fan of this gorgeous little flower, so an accompanying legend is always appreciated.

| My kids love anything from the Magic School Bus collection and this one is especially fun. Very colorful and detailed and a good choice for young readers. This is a good book for early readers and would be about a level 2. |

| This book was okay, just okay. In my opinion, it didn't have as good adventures as the others books had. There were some exciting parts, true; but to, me the whole book wasn't worth it. The end was disappointing and somewhat predictable.
Try reading: "While the Clocked Ticked" the Hardy Boys book #11. Now that is some really good fiction. |
