| In 1972 when I was in the sixth grade my teacher read this book to us twice a week after recess. She also read the two sequels later. I remembered the story line but had forgotten a lot over the years. I recently bought the trilogy for my son and looked them over to refresh my memory. I have now just read them all again at the age of 48 and must say I enjoyed them very much. | We are raising our son in a bilingual household, and so I was happy to see one of his favorite books, Brown Bear Brown Bear... in Spanish. The translation is very nice, with a good rhythm, and an extra nice touch at the end. I enjoy hearing my husband read it, I enjoy reading it, and it is good practice for my Spanish. |

| In the spring my niece bought a hermit crab for her three children (no pets allowed where they live). With it she bought a larger shell for the future. It is hand painted in red, white, and blue. Since then the hermit crab moved out of his original house into his patriotic one. She also bought this book to go with the actual living, breathing hermit crab.

| I first came across the story of Holly and Ivy as a child in the school library. Nearly 40 years later, I was delighted to find it again. It is one of those stories that stays with you and it is one that I was delighted to give to my daughter.

| My first impressions of this book were that it was like reading C.S. Lewis on cheap drugs. The events are complete non sequiturs and the changes in plot are worse.
It appears to be a spoiled child wandering in a world she does not understand, nor is willing to learn about - unlike Lucy in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe who seeks to understand the local customs and circumstances. | I have to say I think Im a little bias. I dont think I have picked up a Meg Cabot book I didnt like. It took me a few chapters to start liking Lizzie, the books main character. At first she comes off a bit whiny and you really think she needs to grow up but through out the book she starts to change and you really get the sense that she is growing with her experiences. Cabot does an amazing job making her characters come to life through their experiences.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys light hearted romanace. |
