| Read this book when I was a kid, then re-read in as a parent. It's defiantly worth a second look. Not any deep, deep new meaning reading it as a father. However, I did get a much different take on it and deeper appreciation for the story.

| Okay, so the artwork is great (hence the two stars), there's no disputing that. The colors are rich and beautiful, the imagery creative, and the sense of atmosphere they give is really quite fantastic and captivating.
But the story... oh ouch. Suffice it to say that I seriously began to wonder if the main character had had a lobotomy somewhere in the intervening pages and I had somehow missed it. Case in point, and this is not giving anything away, but an escape scene through a forest ... Read More: |

| I somehow tragically managed to make my way to adulthood with never reading anything but the kiddie version of this book. When I found this book for super-cheap in the teachers' lounge book sale and I figured "hey, why not?" And thus I picked it up and immediately fell in love with the sheer Old-South charm that only Twain can deliver. Really, people, it is no wonder that this book is such a classic! | We had the privilege of seeing this story live at the Broward Center for Performing Arts, and my four year old loved it! I had to buy him the book and now we read it at home and he still loves it! It's a great classic story, and teaches about sharing, friendship and caring for others. |

| I purchased the board book edition of this delightful story for my littlest readers and only later had occasion to hear the whole story at a library story hour. I had noticed that my edition was unusually choppy for this author and seemed to be missing vital chunks of plot. How disappointing! Gingerbread Baby is a wonderful story, but please buy the paperback or hardcover editions instead. Otherwise, you and your child will miss out on a great thing! |

| The book I received (hardcover edition) seemed fine, but once I opened it I saw that the first five or six pages were the title page, copyright, dedication, and table of contents from a completely different book, "The Biggest Bangs" by Jonathan Katz. The correct book start just after than and the rest of it seemed fine, but be aware of this printing error because I'm sure mine was not the only one like that.

| This is a fabulous book. Not only are six classic tales retold with delightfully gruesome details (more in keeping with the originals), but a creative teacher and/or student can go nuts with this book. I have used this book extensively with middle school aged students, both native speakers and ESL. The rhymes are engaging and catchy. | The two books of Abarat are fun to escape into. The names and situations are goofy at times, but still make you want to read on to finish the story. This has lead me to read more of Clive Barker. The Great Secret Show and Coldheart Canyon, I am in the middle of Weaveworld. I have found no matter the earlier his works or the newer attempts are equally entertaining. There is some shock value, but is that not the reason for delving into this genre of books. Praise to such talent. |

| My eight year old son loves the Franny K Stein Series. They are funny, easy to read chapter books. He can finish one in less than an hour. The monster aspect attracts boys, while the fact that it is a little girl makes it entertaining for young girls as well. He received the whole series for Valentines Day and we are anticipating any new releases. The Wiley and Grampa Series from Kirk Scroggs is also great for the 8-10 year old boy |
