I thought the book was well written and very informative however; it left me feeling depressed and thankful for my life. It doesn't seem that Warren Buffett is really all THAT happy. He has many close friends and family but how close does he let them get? And the jab that is taken at his granddaughter is equally sad. If those children were adopted by Peter they are no longer step children but actual children. Not to mention they were an important part of Peter and Big Susie's life and that should ... Read More:

Excellent well researched book on an important period in American history that has affected our country to this very day, and the lessons
will probably not be heeded now. First time that have ever read the truth of what actually occurred in the Depression of the 1930's.

If you work in marketing, like me, you know that traction for a brand is critical and good products have tipping points en route to skyrocketing sales. Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point is a fascinating exploration of makes ideas explode. His anecdotes and research are fascinating, and some of his exploration focuses directly on consumer products, such as the resurgence of Hush Puppies.

Although I found "blink" engrossing, Gladwell's talent as a writer often lets him get away with murder. The distinctions he makes sometimes seem arbitrary, particularly if one takes just a little more than 2 seconds to mull things over. Some of his extrapolations not only seem unjustified but mislead. For example, in his discussion of malpractice, Gladwell urges his patients to find their doctors "wanting" if they appear not to be listening or talking down. But the research on which Gladwell bases his malpractice discussion simply found ... Read More:

I had quite a few problems with this book. Let me start by saying that he obviously knows how to put words together. However the first part of the book about the anthropological aspects of the gift culture is not anything new, as he takes excerpts from various works in the field and strings them together. His contemporary example of the scientific community is innacurate. I know from 1st hand experience that the scientific community is highly competitive, and often requests for material from fellow scientists is ignored, or refused. I also could ... Read More:

The most interesting book on FDR I've ever read. I learned a lot more about the state of our nation when FDR was elected and what FDR did to keep our republic on a more democratic path.

I'm sure our new President-elect and his staff are reading this book so they can learn how to make great things happen in Washington in only 100 days.

I have known, for a long time that we were not the guys in the white hats, but this book is a true eye opener. It is as horrifying as it informative.
It should be required reading for all high school students in order that they not be lulled into the compacency of their parents generation.

Like most people who try endlessly to organize their lives, I came to this book after working on myself for years, hoping to improve my productivity. So it was refreshing to hear the author point out the fallacies of most of the systems I've tried, mainly the daily `to do' list. Allen shows how in most work environments, priorities shift from moment to moment. Therefore, you need an approach that's flexible and doesn't leave you discouraged at the end of the day as you stare at a long list of things you didn't accomplish. If you're a visual learner like me, you'll find the flow charts in ... Read More:
