Brilliant! Bought the whole set of 7 books for the kids (aged 8 & 10) and they loved them. The format is smaller than I remembered from my childhood but the kids didn't care. They read them over and over again. They also loved the Calvin and Hobbs books.

Tintin...a classic. As usual my 3rd grader loves it. It's a great size, not too large like the original books, so we can carry it everywhere easily but not too small either to read. The 3 stories in one book is an advantage. If you want to allow your kids to read comics but also want them to learn something intelligent then try Tintin. You'll be glad you did!

Ever since I read the Tintin books as a kid, I have always wanted to own the complete collection. This set has all the 21 books available in the US (the controversial ones are excluded) and is reasonably priced.

Not all the 3-in-1 hardcover volumes are easily available, so this set is a collector's delight. Recommended for every Tintin fan.

For a long time I owned all the Tintins depicted on the back cover of âaeThe Adventures of Tintinâ and thought I had it all, until I learned about the existence of 3 other titles: âaeTintin in the Congo,â âaeTintin Et Lâ(tm)Alph-Artâ (his very last unfinished work), and this one, which happens to be his very first Tintin Adventure. Naturally, I quickly obtained all three.

This being the very first Tintin ever, it is a remarkable work and is a must have for any Tintin lover. However ... Read More:

"Tintin in Tibet" is my first Tintin adventure. I am a librarian seeking new stories and saw this in a review. It looks like a story my older elementary students would like.

Others on the product page are long-time fans, beginning in childhood, with "Tintin in Tibet" as the favorite in the series of books written and illustrated by Herge. Not knowing anything about the back story, I will begin.

First, the book itself. It is 11 3/4 inches high and 8 3/4 inches wide with full-color illustrations ... Read More:

Tintin is a great comic book ... funny, witty, adventurous, and with clean language. These are classics! I used to read them growing up in Europe, and I am glad that I can have my children read them too.

This is a version of Herge's last, unfinished Tintin, translated to English. It is in my opinion the best Tintin adventure around. Unfortunately, only line drawings are available which are not very clear on some pages. The French version has two volumes, one containing a replica of the drawings and the other a script. The English version condenses them into one volume, meaning the space devoted to the drawings is unfortunately smaller.

Back in India, the magazine The Week used to publish a single page of each Tintin book, one week at a time in the Eighties. And I used to collect them as soon as my parents had finished reading the magazine, and bind them up. The first in that series was Red Rackham's Treasure. Painfully slow way of reading a comic book, but that was still better than not readiing it.

Looking back, I can only remember those times wistfully and fondly. Tintin showed me the true meaning of adventure. I was always wild eyed with admiration ... Read More:

This was, I think, the first Tintin book published after World War II (Herge was briefly imprisoned after the liberation of Belgium, since he has contributed as an artist to a pro-axis newspaper). It's the first of a two volume adventure (the second part being Prisoners of the Sun) but the book is good on its own. It starts amusingly, as Tintin arrives in Marlinspike (he still does not live there) and sees Haddock turned into a country lord (with the fortune of the Unicorn treasure, I suppose). The action unfolds slowly: the seven members of a scientific ... Read More:

Herge, The Secret of the Unicorn (Methuen, 1946)

This is where Herge really started to get great. A series of wallet-snatchings in plaguing Brussels, which Thomson and Thompson are investigating. Meanwhile, Tintin buys an old model of a ship as a present for Haddock, and is immediately accosted by two people who want to buy it from him. Both stories converge when the ship and one of the missing wallets become parts of the key to the final resting place of the Unicorn, Sir Francis Haddock's legendary ship. Just before the Unicorn went down, Haddock had been ... Read More:
