While this book has some great information but it really shows the "Bohrist" bias. I mean I can understand that they leave out plasmas and superheated ion clouds and other things for sake of simplicity. I can agree with this.

But there's a whole other side to this issue. Dark Matter and dark energy. It's not exactly a minority, I mean there's actually more of it by some counts that
so called "true matter". Yet books like these treat this group like it doesn't even exist. That ... Read More:

My son is obsessed with planets. This text is good and the artwork is nice. But a new edition needs to come out to explain that Pluto is no longer considered a planet. We have to read the book and then explain that to him afterwards.

This is a question every elementary child asks their parent or teacher. Don't know the answer? Read this cute book and you will find out! A great book to teach one science concept of fall. Do leaf rubbings of leaves collected on a walk and you and your child will have a great afternoon of learning. Excellent text and pictures.

This is by far the best short treatment I've read on moon phases for kids. The illustrations and explanations are clear and understandable, and my five -year-old is able to "wrap his brain around" the idea of the moon rotating around the earth rotating around the sun...not the most intuitive concept around. In most other similar books I've looked at, they seem to assume you can already picture it in your head...this one adds the viewers' perspective in addition to the plantet's. Very helpful.

This is NOT an introduction to rock hounding as I had hoped.

The bulk of the book contains interesting information about the three types of rocks (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary) that was easy for young readers to understand.

The end of the book briefly encourages kids to go out and collect their own rocks, aiming for a variety of colors, and then to go home and try to identify them.

Overall, I don't think this book is going to inspire a kid to rush out and ... Read More:

My 8 year old read this book to me for health. We are learning about waste and pollution. This book includes at dumps, landfills, ocean dumping, incineration, recycling, the end uses, and reducing our garbage to begin with. A very good book that I would recommend for grades 1-3rd. It would also make a good book for social studies.

Books : My Five Senses (Let's Read & Find Out Science Book)
5 senses: taste, hear, smell, see and "touch". I would rather the author had used the word "feel" instead of "touch".
