| This book was incredible. I could not put it down! When I finally finished it on one Sunday, my husband asked me "Are you finished? You haven't talked to me all weekend!"
It captured my interest as my family lived near, Reine's corner, the trash truck depot, the junk yard and the Busy's. I knew the selectmen and some of the officers mentioned. | This book gives an understandable view of how our Constitution came to be. It is good to read in context with studying other aspects of the colonial time period as well as the Revolutionary War. There is a great map at the beginning and resources at the back with the preamble as well as an explanation of the Articles and Amendments. There is a list of all the signers, a summary of important dates and bit of interesting facts about the convention and delegates. Definitely a good resource. |

| I have talked with my high school students about the fact that although there are defining moments in life, we should not let one moment define who we are for the rest of our lives. This is a great story to exemplify this point! Although drug use and sales are important components of the novel (and serve to attract the attention of adolescent readers), drugs are not glorified, which is an important point that parents and educators should be aware of if asked to defend this book choice. | This book is adequate as a textbook, but it's not a great resource for what's really going on out in the world. I felt it was very academic--which can be a good thing, but I think high school students will want something a little more practical. "Street" Law should be something more connected to the streets....I just didn't think this book did the job. |

| This was an interesting book. Although, Tookie never really changed his ways. He still shot called and ran things from his cell, and even acted as if he'd backed away from gang life, so he could have his sentence changed from "death" to "life" in prison. He even went as far as to have his white boyfriend (a Prison Inmate tookie was having sexual relations with)walk with him to his execution, instead of one of his crip comrads.. |

| I do recommend this book because there is still racism in the United States of America today and many people need to stop because nobody wants to be insulted because of there race. The books plot was how people were treated back in the 1940's and 50's and gave me many reasons why not to be a racist. I would not like to read another book by Chris Crowe again because this book was extremely sad. | I have used this book with juveniles I work with on probation. It is neat to see them problem solve the cases and how many times they would actually punish the crime much harder than what the judge actually decided. This book creates great discussions and has a lot of value in the therapeutic groups for problem solving. I highly recommend this book to use with teens in all different ways. |
