Each story has a short saying in between it which come to have their own value. | I have a little grandson who is 21mos old. I'm going to visit him in a few weeks and I'm taking this book. I think it will help the little guy learn to meditate.
I originally bought it for an older child and when I saw it I knew it wouldn't work for him. If small children can learn to meditate they will have a powerful tool to have a clearer mind and a way to focus. This is very helpful in all areas of one's life. How nice to find it earlier than later. |

| I checked this book out of the library based on the general description of what was inside. I thought that is would be a good piece of literature for my 5 year old son to help to introduce him to other cultures around the world.
Well, I have to say thaat I really enjoyed this book as much as he did! He sat on the bed every night, hanging on to every word, and could not wait for the next night so we could read the next story. I could have easily finished the book in one night myself, but didn't so that ... Read More: |

| I really enjoyed that book. Frank has made the book accessible to anybody who wants to learn more about Buddhism though the focus audience is teens. It starts briefly with the Buddha life then quickly teaches the 4 noble truths and eightfold path. It touches on various topics relevant to anybody and even goes into various Buddhist traditions and sects. We were pleased at DK's clear delineation between the major sects were given as much devotion to detail as the sects in DK's Christian book (as well as fair portrayal in the DK Religions book!). | I am a little frustrated with this book because I think it glosses over the most important areas - discussion about the four encounters and the four noble truths is kept to one page, however his birth and childhood have 5?
