| I first found out about David Macaulay when I got this book as one of the many text books I had to get in my French Culture class in college. It is a wonderful book showing us how a fictional cathedral was made in France. The sketches are lovely in their detail, and the book is a fine gift for either a child or an adult. I urge you to collect are many of his books are you can get you hands on. I have! |

| This is a wonderful book for kids of all ages. The reference works in back to museums, internet sites and other books is well done. I recommend this book for any one who has children interested in Knights and Castles! |

| This book is not what I expected. I was thinking it may be something along the lines of - How To Be A Knight or the DK Eyewitness guides on Armour. This book is more than that. Not only is it put into clever section headers but each header has a simple and thoughtful write up. This is then followed by full page, stunning colour images of the swords in question. | I think "Son of Charlemagne" was very interesting. Before reading the book, I didn't think that well of Charlemagne, but after reading this book, my opinion changed. This book develops the life of Charlemagne through the eyes of his son, Carl. The plot was well developed, but on the negative side, the continuing change in area was confusing. On one side, "KelleyG" gives it 5 stars and complains about "obvious religious zealots who feel they have a right to shove their beliefs down the throats of everyone else in this country", and 4 Christians give the book 1 star for its anti-Christian themes and statements.
