| This was my 8th grade son's summer reading. He could not stop reading it and it caused him to initiate a lot of conversation with us about the holocaust. Since it was from the perspective of a girl his own age, he really identified with it. |

| It is a good book, the stories are cruel, but not so detailed. Kids need to know about what happened, and this is a good way, but definitely not for kids under sixth grade.

| First I listened to the book on audio. I liked it so much I got the book a year later andit it. Amazing story of survival. Hiding right in a Nazi officers home. WOW. What courage.
A must read for those who what to never forget. Uplifting to what we can and will do for others when we have to. |

| I did not purchase this book on Amazon, but I had to write a review anyway. I got my copy of The Cage on a trip to the Holocaust museum with my family, when I was in the 5th grade. On the drive back, I did nothing but read this book. Since then (I'm now 19) I've re-read it so many times that it's falling apart. Riva's story is compelling, heart wrenching, and still beautiful and courageous.

| This is an interesting book with nice artwork that unfortunately is a bit dry. I've included the first three paragraphs for your perusal so you can get the gist of the book's style.

| This book is a companion to the HBO film of the same name. I use the film, and now the book, during my unit on the Holocaust in my High School World War II class. The students are always moved by the experiences of the Tennessee students and teachers as they develop their Holocaust project. It allows the students to relate to the events of the Holocaust in a more realistic way unlike any other assignment I give. I highly recommend both the film and the book! |

| Although this was a book about great sorrow and despair, the strength of the human spirit shines through in the heart and mind of Helen Waterford. What was also astounding was the thoughts and emotions of Alfons Heck. What a horrific time--more than the mind can comprehend...and what a truly amazing journey of the souls that brought these two people together.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. I just finished reading it and passed it along to my daughter. |

| The writing is a bit choppy and hard to read at times. The story itself is great. There is quite a bit of bad language though. So I can't recommend it to younger children. |

| Did not realize this is really more of a book for children or young people prior to purchasing (my mistake). So...I found it to be an easy read. The book is well made with a good number of photographs I've never seen before in the other Hitler Youth books I'm read or at least flipped through. I recommend this book if you have a casual interest in the subject. |
