| This book has gained its reputation through the years (since 1937). The method has been proven and the pages of the book have a genuine and attractive old fashion look.
The songs are progressively more interesting and pleasant, but the companion CD has unappealing arrangements with electronic sound which are in contrast with the book, instead of simply sticking to the piano score and the acoustic piano sound. | This book turned out to be just what my daughter needed. She is 10 and just starting to learn some chords. This book is simple and easy to understand without alot of extra information. She can take it with her. I recommend this book for a child or teenager just getting started. |

| You can follow right along with the books and it is easy to understand.
Don't expect to learn over night. It has to sink in little by little. Just keep practicing as much as you can while enjoying it. You can do one or two lessons a day and repeat as much as the old lessons as you want to do. You will be amazed how you improve. What was hard becomes easy. |

| My 6 year old loves it! It is very basic, and only teaches the location of the notes on the piano, and their names. Does not teach reading music, which includes the timing, quarter notes, half notes, etc. For this reason, sometimes the songs do not sound right even though the right notes are played. No need for the child to read, it is color coded along with the the letters so even a very young child should be able to determine the correct notes based on the color.
