| I love the books of David Wiesner, they are imaginative and fun. He has amazing talent. Even as an adult I enjoy looking back through his books, just to admire the gorgeous scenes. It's a classic for any children's book collection. |

| I live in North Carolina and I have been able to identify all the snakes, lizards, turtles, and frogs that I have found using this book. Good descriptions and photos to help you tell the difference between different species. |

| Do you ever like a book 'just because'? I can't make a comment on the witty prose or beautiful artwork to back up my heartfelt, "I like it" but I will try. It is an endearing tale about a snake. The storyline is nonsensical and fun--totally entertaining. The pen and ink drawings with lots of green coloring like the beloved title character are a perfect compliment to the story.

| This book is hysterical. Written in the format of notes going back and forth between Alex and his Mom regarding a pet iguana, you just may like it even more than your child (I think I do!) My five-year-old son loves the illustrations and I could read this one over and over without completely losing my mind. |

| I have bought this book at least three times, either as a gift or because I had lost it. I use it in teaching Creative Movement as a relaxing, imaginative ending. I love how the child continues to imagine and the mother allows his imagination to soar free. |

| I don't get it. My three-and-a-half-year-old son doesn't like it. It lacks the sweetness and focus of "Corduroy" or "The Snowy Day." It changes scene too often (and not in a good way, like Harold and the Purple Crayon). And the characters are unkind to each other until the very end. I bought this book based on good reviews, but without having read it myself. My mistake. I think this is not a great book for little kids to read, and I won't read it again with my son. Very disappointing. |
